About Us
Hey there!
I’m super excited to share the story behind Gearhunter and how it all came to life. It’s not just a brand—it’s something that’s been growing inside me for years.
A few years ago, I joined the EDC community—not as a casual observer, but right from the start as part of my job. I was there to answer customer questions, but what I didn’t expect was how quickly I’d fall in love with the whole experience. Every day, I’d see you sharing your gear setups, DIY knife handle, sharpening techniques, and little snapshots of their daily lives. The kindness and enthusiasm in the community were contagious, and I couldn’t help but get drawn in.
Over time, I didn’t just stick to answering questions—I started joining the conversations, sharing my own experiences, and interacting with everyone. The more I engaged, the more joy I felt. It wasn’t just about gear anymore; it was about being part of a passionate, supportive family. We’re always searching, discovering, and exploring what we carry, adding our own personal touch along the way.
That’s where the idea for my logo came from. Ever heard the phrase “First the egg, first the key”? It’s from a movie called Ready Player One. Everyone is looking for an Easter egg in a worldwide virtual reality game, the discovery of which would lead him to inherit the game creator’s fortune and the game itself. An Easter egg—you crack it open and discover what’s inside.
That’s exactly how I see the EDC journey—full of surprises and discoveries. My logo reflects that idea, shaped like an egg with the letters G and H hidden inside, representing Gearhunter. Life, like gear, is all about uncovering hidden gems along the way.
And then there’s the name of my website—HiGearhunter.com. I chose “Hi” because it feels like saying hello to an old friend. That’s exactly what the EDC community feels like to me—familiar, welcoming, and always inspiring.
But there’s more to the story. My mom is good at sewing. Growing up, I watched her repair clothes and sew patches with so much care and precision. Over time, I discovered how much fun it was to stitch and create something unique with my hands. That love for crafting led me to my current passion—EDC hanks. They’re not just functional accessories; they’re little pieces of creativity and care that reflect the spirit of the EDC community.
Gearhunter isn’t just about gear—it’s about community, creativity, and exploration. It’s about finding joy in the details, adding a personal touch to what we carry, and keeping the spirit of discovery alive. I’m so excited to continue this journey with all of you, and I can’t wait to see where our adventures take us next.
Thanks for being part of this story. Let’s keep exploring together!
